On May 25 at the NFL owners meeting there will be a vote on the venue for the 2014 Super Bowl and New York as joined Tampa and Miami as applicants. If the Meadowlands in New Jersey is chosen for the final it will be a marked change from the normal as it will be rather cold there in February to say the least!
Although the Super Bowl has been played in colder areas including Minnesota, Indianapolis and Detroit they were domed stadiums so offering the players and fans a comfortable environment in which to enjoy the game. However it certainly would be interesting to have a return to real football. After all plenty of NFL games including the Championship games are often played in cold regions and this doesn’t seem to deter the fans from turning up or affect TV audiences. If anything it could make the 2014 Super Bowl one of the most memorable in its history especially if we get a few inches of snow during the game; I assume tickets will come with complementary hand warmers and bunny hats.
