New Orleans have released veteran Tight End Jeremy Shockey following an injury hit season which saw his numbers plummet to 408 yards receiving for just 3 Touch Downs. This comes only a year after he was a major player in their first ever Super Bowl win, showing there is no room for sentiment in the NFL.
Shockey was a New York Giants first round draft pick in 2002, and after helping them win Super Bowl XLII was traded to the Saints prior to the 2008 season where he has spent the past three years.
If he regains his fitness the two time Super Bowl winner will easily find a team for the 2011 season (assuming there is no lock out) and could be a bit of a bargain for someone.
