One of the big name potential free agents, Richard Seymour has agreed a new 2 year deal, so securing his services before the March 3rd negotiations deadline. With the potential for a lockout now looming large this was a smart move by the Raiders, securing one of their star players rather than using the franchise tag which could become worthless if a lockout occurs.
The Raiders certainly seem to be on their way back on the field and apart from the sacking of Tom Cable they also seem to be getting things sorted off the field too. Their 8-8 finish was the best they have managed since losing to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Super Bowl XXXVII and they managed top sweep the admittedly below par AFC West last season.
Seymour who picked up a Super Bowl Winners ring with the New England Patriots will earn a reputed $30 million over the two years with $2.5 million of this guaranteed.
