In what would be a major coup for the embryonic United Football League, Ex Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions  Quarter Back Daunte Culpepper is considering joining the Sacramento Mountain Lions. If he does join them it will reunite him with Dennis Green who guided him to considerable success in his Vikings days.

Given that the UFL have only been going since 2009 getting a player like Culpepper to join would really help raise the leagues profile and with the looming 2011 contract negotiations between the players union and the NFL, they could be well placed to benefit from any strike action. They have ambitious expansion plans, however it remains to be seen if this league will be any more successful than the previous attempts which included the AFL which merged with the NFL or the failed World Football League (WFL) of the 1970s. Still in this age of TV money and content hungry cable channels it would be premature to write them off. Perhaps they will become NFL division 2?
