In what will be seen as a slightly surprising move, given his past comments Jason Taylor will now lead the NY Jets pass rush in the 2010 season as they attempt to build on their successful 2009 season having signed a 2 year deal.

Jason Taylor is the current sack leader amongst active NFL players with 127.5, a long way clear of the next best Joey Porter who has 92 and he will be expecting to add significantly to this in Rex Ryan’s 3-4 pass rush defense.  New York have got Taylor at a bit of a bargain price thanks to the rule which will only cost them about the same as unrestricted free-agent kicker Jay Feely signed for with Arizona, however the deal will includes a large 2nd year roster bonus for the second year so it may be a one season gig.

This signing is unlikely to affect New York’s early draft choice this year, but may force Miami to rethink as they are not overly endowed with pass rushing talent having also lost Joey Porter to the Arizona Cardinals.
