Future NFL legend LaMarr Woodley has signed a 1yr franchise tender with the Pittsburgh Steelers meaning he will get a sunstantial pay rise compared to his rookie contract. Last season he probably earned around $550,000 despite the Steelers making the Super Bowl, however given his position and the workings of the Franchise Tag he stands to make more than $10 million in 2011 assuming there is a season.
Linebacker Woodley has played 60 games for Pittsburgh in his 4 seasons to date and has recorded an impressive 39 sacks and 3 interceptions. He has 11 post sesason sacks too in his 7 games and played in the 2010 Pro Bowl.
The Steelers will now look to tie him down to a long term deal over the next season if they have any sense.
