The New York Giants who play in the NFC East Division of the NFL are one of the most successful teams in American football having won seven championships since being formed in 1925 by Pro Football Hall of Fame member Tim Mara. His initial $500 investment proved to be a shrewd one and in the December of their 1st season they attracted a crowd in excess of 70,000 to the Polo Grounds to see them play the Chicago Bears. In their 1st two seasons the Giants managed respectability with 8 wins in each and in 1927, the Giants won their first NFL championship thanks in no small part to a defense led by future Hall of Fame tackle Steve Owen which only allowed 20 points in 13 games. Owen became Giants’ head coach in 1930 and led them to some of their finest seasons winning 8 divisional titles between 1933 and 1946 and two NFL championships in 1934 and 1938. Things were not so successful thereafter and it would be 10 seasons before the Giants won another title when another successful run began in 1956. Between 1956 and 1963 The Giants won 6 of the 8 Eastern Divisional titles but lost the other 5 Championship games, twice to the Green Bay packers and Baltimore Colts and once to the Chicago Bears.

Thereafter things were best described as mediocre until the 1980s since when they have shown great consistency  winning the Super Bowl in 1986, 1990 & 2007 (this win coming from a Wild Card place) and reaching the final in 2000. They have also reached the post season 14 times in this time period.

From2010 they will move from their current home The Giants Stadium and will share the newly build Meadowlands with The New York Jets.
