Stanford Quarter Back Andrew Luck’s decision to stay on for another year and skip the 2011 draft will come as a disappointment to the Carolina Panthers who with the NO 1 pick would most probably acquired his services; However the decision could have knock on effects elsewhere in the NFL.

Current Stanford coach Jim Harbaugh is currently one of the most wanted coaches in football and although it seems likely he will join either the 49ers or the Dolphins it is now possible that he will choose to remain in place for another season given Luck’s decision.

Andrew Luck & Jim Harbaugh are the main reasons for Stanford’s recent turnaround – they were a one win team in 2006 but since the dynamic duo’s arrival Luck is 20-5 and has only missed one game, last season’s Sun Bowl loss to Oklahoma due to  a broken finger.

It will be interesting to see if the two resume their acquaintance in the Professional game in 2012 but in meantime College football will be just a little bit better than expected in 2011.
