A good night of NFL and although most games went as expected several were very close and this looks like being a pretty competitive season if everyone keeps playing to this standard.
Result of the Night has to be Washington’s Emotional win at Philadelphia – so sweet for Donovan McNabb. Good wins for Cleveland & Jacksonville who both sort of clung on to win with both being well out distanced. Terrell Owens had a great night in defeat picking up 222 yards for the Bengals and Josh Scobee will long remember his 59 yard winning Field Goal kicked as time expired to give the Jaguars a big Divisional win.
Baltimore won a typical AFC North encounter to move to 3-1, and The Houston Texans bounced back from last weeks disappointment against Dallas to gain a hard fought win over Oakland piling up 249 yards rushing in the process.
San Diego managed to turn their superiority into points at home again beating a poor Arizona Cardinals who were held to a total of 124 yards of offense. The Chargers are now 2-0 at home and 0-2 away however they have dominated all 4 games this season and if they can just get things right away from home they look well positioned to win their 5th consecutive AFC West title.
The NY teams both had good wins, the Jets comfortably beating AFC East whipping boys Buffalo, and The Giants getting back on track by inflicting Chicago’s first defeat of the season thanks to them finally rediscovering their pass rush. Jay Cutler had a horrible 1st half being sacked 9 times and not surprisingly he had to be benched at half time with concussion. If the Giants defense is finally back to its best then they will still have a say in the tough NFC East.
Denver brought Tennessee back down to earth with a nice come from behind win. They couldn’t move the ball on the ground, however Kyle Orton eventually realised that he could throw the ball and two scores inside the 2 minute warning including a 6 yard TD pass to Correll Buckhalter gave them an unlikely win.
