NFL Community Huddle: Taking a Goal Line Stand for Your Mind & Body

The Satcher Health Leadership Institute at Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia has teamed up with the NFL and NFL Alumni Association to bring you a FREE community mental health forum: NFL Community Huddle: Taking a Goal Line Stand for Your Mind & Body.

Who should attend:

  • Youth and student athletes and their parents
  • Community mental health advocates
  • Sports coaches, athletic trainers and referees
  • School teachers, counselors and nurses
  • Psychiatrists, neurologists and sports medicine physicians
  • Physical and occupational therapists
  • Medical, public health, nursing and social work students
  • Mental health providers

Please join us Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Dearborn to discuss the mental health challenges faced by athletes at all levels and in the greater community. This forum will bring together community members, health providers, experts and concerned advocates. It will feature a variety of panel speakers, including former Detroit Lions Quarterback Eric Hipple, who will share personal stories about their experiences with concussions, mental illness and caretaking, and the community will participate in a town-hall style discussion offering resources for reducing stigma that continues to surround mental illness.

Please see the attached program and plan on joining us in Detroit on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. This event is free and open to the public and part of a series of NFL-sponsored community forums being held nationally.
