The New Orleans Saints have wasted no time in taking action regarding their poor field goal record this season. On Sunday their current No1 dropped to 4-for-7 in the season and missed a potentially game winning OT chip shot which ended up losing them the game against their main NFC South rivals.
This has led to them resigning 46 year old John Carney, and are also looking at the Texans Kris Brown and The Colts Matt Stover. It is not clear at the moment whether this means the end of the New Orleans road for Hartley, as they may decide to waive another player to make a roster spot.

Hartley had a good 2008 & 2009 making 22/24 in 13 starts, however in the NFL you are only as good as your last game and unfortunately missed crucial field goals tend to remain etched on the mind of those who matter for a long time. It will be interesting to see who takes the Saints next Field Goal.
