Week Four already and the bye weeks start, still there are 14 interesting games and already a couple where defeat will be painful for the loser. The nights big game is The Washington Redskins @ Philadelphia Eagles which will see Donovan McNabb return to his old stomping ground. It will be interesting to see how the crowd reacts to him, especially if he has a good game.
Other important match ups include Baltimore @ Pittsburgh which could either let the Ravens tie things up a 3-1 at the top or drop 2 games back with two divisional defeats. Even at this early stage of the season that would not bode well for them. Charlie Batch will be starting QB for the Steelers in what is likely to be his last NFL start this season unless Ben Roethlisbergerget injured.
Also likely to generate a lot of interest is Miami at home to New England with both at 2-1 they will want to keep the pressure on the NY Jets who should move to 3-1 after their trip to Buffalo. Miami are not scoring many points this year but are hard to score against, while New England are the exact opposite racking up the points but seemingly unable to stop their opponents. This game will tell us a lot more about both teans prospects going forward. Anyway on to the weeks picks:
San Francisco at Atlanta Falcons – The Falcons looked good last week and should be good enough to send the 49ers to 0-4. Falcons by 7-10
Cincinnati Bengals at Cleveland Browns – The Bengals look to be as good as last year if not a little better. They will edge this one by 7 points or less
NY Jets at Buffalo – Buffalo are probably a bit better than last year however its hard to see them beating the Jets. Jets to win by 7-10
Seattle Seahawks at St. Louis Rams – Both sides are coming off good wins however the Seahawks are poor travelers and we tip the Rams for the upset. We are on them at 2.1 on Betfair.
Denver Broncos at Tennessee Titans – The Titans looked good last week against the Giants and with Denver still struggling with injuries its hard to see an upset here. Titans by 10 points +
Detroit Lions at Green Bay Packers – The Packers pretty much threw it away against the Bears last week and will be keen to ensure they dont make the same mistake again. The Lions are improving but are not good enough to win at Lambeau yet. Packets by 14 points +
Baltimore at Pittsburgh – This is a crunch match and both teams will be well up for it. The Steelers have dome well without Big Ben, but this is their 1st reat test without him. Could be close but we are just siding with the Ravens. Baltimore to win by 3-7 points
Carolina Panthers at New Orleans Saints – The Saints should have won last week and will be too strong for this young Panthers team. Saints by 14 Points +
Indianapolis Colts at Jacksonville Jaguars – The Jags dont look good this year and they will struggle to contain Peyton Manning in this one. Colts to win by 14 Points +
Houston Texans at Oakland Raiders – The Texans good start came to an abrupt end against the Cowboys last week and a further defeat here will throw major doubts up about their character. The Raiders looked good in defeat last week and with a little more composure from Field Goal kicker Sebastian Janikowski they would have had a rare away win. Overall we just think the Texans can edge this one by 3-7 points
Washington Redskins at Philadelphia Eagles – Donovan McNabb makes his much heralded return to Philly and with temotions running high we thing the Skins can pull off a shock. Redskins by 7 points +
Arizona Cardinals at San Diego Chargers – The Chargers have somehow conspired to lose 2 games this season despite looking dominant in both and they really cant afford another sloppy defeat. The Cards were pretty lucky last week and are struggling with so many key losses on both side of the ball. This should be a fairly easy win for the Chargers. San Diegi by 14 Points +
Chicago Bears at NY Giants – Can the Giants really be as bad as they look? Well another defeat in this one would confirm it and probably but Tom Coughlin
in a very uncomfortable place. However we expect him to get a reprieve with a narrow win. Giants by 3-7 points
Monday Game
New England Patriots at Miami Dolphins – The Dolphins look like they have a defense this season but despite their preseason additions don’t look to have the offense to match. The Patriots on have the opposite problem as they try to integrate multiple draft picks and acquisitions. This one should be close but overall we will go with the Patriots to winn narrowly. New England by 3-7 points
Bye week for Dallas,Kansas City, Minnesota, Tampa Bay
