San Diego Chargers Outside Linebacker Shawne Merriman who is currently on injured reserve has been put on waiver and will leave the Chargers once he is fit again. He wanted a big contract pre-season but the San Diego hierarchy were reluctant to splash out on a player who has not been able to recapture his 2006 form, and who’s off the field antics tend to attract attention.
These are slightly worrying times for the Charges franchise however their decisions not to overpay for Merriman and Vincent Jackson shows they are serious about keeping control and should pay dividends long term.
