It was not third time lucky for controversial Washington Redskins defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth, as he failed his 3rd conditioning test, which doesn’t include the two he skipped. Having just collected a massive bonus one would have thought as a matter of personal pride he would have at least made some effort to get fit pre-camp, but this is Albert Haynesworth we are talking about a man who is currently living on his past successes and who’s reputation is close to tatters. The Washington Franchise and especially its fans who ultimately pay his overblown wages deserve better. Hopefully he will now be sufficiently embarrassed by his poor showing and he will get down the gym.
The sad part of all this is that he is a fantastic talent when he puts his mind to it, but somewhere along the line he has started to believe the overblown hype which surrounded his massive contract. The best players in the NFL only owe part of their success to God given talent, the rest comes from hard work an mental fortitude.
I hope Haynesworth finally comes good for the Redskins but no one should hold their breath waiting.
